About

Strings in an Hour begins with a moment of inspiration. Your group listens as professional instructors perform a beautiful piece, then hears the surprising news: in less than an hour, they will be playing too.

Doubt quickly turns to curiosity as each person receives a classical string instrument, either a violin or a viola. The instructors guide everyone through a first lesson on holding the instrument, using the bow and finding the notes.

Step by step, each section learns its own part of the final piece, gaining confidence with every run-through.

Finally, with a specially created backing track, the two sections come together and make beautiful music. For a room full of beginners, hearing themselves sound like a real orchestra is a moment of genuine pride.

Learning outcomes

Strings in an Hour uses the power of music to bring teams together and achieve something that seems impossible at first. Within minutes, people who believed they had no musical ability are playing their first notes.

Few people could learn an instrument in under an hour alone. As a group, with the right coaching and a shared goal, it becomes possible, showing how quickly people learn when they feel supported.

Each section must listen to the other and stay in time, which builds empathy, courage and focus in a natural way.

Making music together releases a wave of positive energy and leaves everyone uplifted. The performance becomes a story the team will share for years and a reminder of what it can achieve together.
