Giant Marionette Crew
Nine controls, one giant puppet and a team that has to move in sync.

About
Giant Marionette Crew is part engineering challenge, part comedy show. Teams collect their kits and props, then study the building instructions together.
They split into sub-teams to make the different parts of the puppet. The pieces are assembled, the controls attached and the figure decorated, until it stands taller than its makers.
Then the real challenge begins. Using nine controllers, the team stands the puppet up and tries to make it perform simple human actions. Every movement needs several people working together, so even a wave must be broken into careful steps.
Each team becomes a control center, aiming to impress coworkers with a smooth, effortless performance. In the finale, every puppet attempts a well-known dance move, and the room usually bursts out laughing.
Learning outcomes
Giant Marionette Crew involves everyone in strategy and project planning, both when building the puppet and when bringing it to life.
Moving the puppet takes close teamwork, crystal-clear communication and constant improvement. Because nobody can move it alone, every contribution is visible and valued, and teams that assign a leader for each movement improve fast.
It is not all serious, of course. Picture each person controlling a different body part while the team tries to walk, wave or blow a kiss, and you can imagine the laughter.
The finale keeps the fun going. Along the way, teams see how a complex task becomes possible when it is broken into small steps and everyone plays their part in perfect timing. Groups often keep laughing about it for weeks.

No. Teams follow clear instructions, and learning to move the puppet together is half the fun.

How many people control each puppet?
Each puppet has nine controllers, so it takes many hands to make it move.
